RAM usage in 10.1.3 question
When rendering, LW requires Ram for the render itself, and various other buffers - each using a wedge of RAM. It also has to store the mesh & bitmaps used in textures. The list goes on.... so the upshot of this is that for even modest requirements, 128Mb of RAM is pretty much the requirement.

memorry question.
I am curious about RAM usage. I have 256 MB of RAM. But with nothing other than startup stuff running, my computer shows under the Task Manager > Performance tab, 261684K total Physical Memory, only approximately 90000K - 100000K available. Is this normal? Or is there an adjustment I need to make to utilize the RAM

And Windows doesn't start swapping out stuff when memory usage gets *really* high - it does it at fairly low RAM usage. The misunderstanding runs very deep there... from another post by Mr. Powe, we see that his own system has 64Mb of RAM, but only 1.3Mb of free space, with the rest used just about as anyone else would expect (almost 30Mb for buffers and cache to make the system run faster)! It is the elimination or at least the reduction of this movement of active memory content that provides the performance benefit from adding more RAM. Is there a way to limit store.exe RAM usage ? thanks. No. It shouldn't be making the server slow. It will eat up the memory it wants to and then, if required, hand it back to have the OS work efficiently.
