Maybe you could try 'ulimit' to make sure the memory usage is contained? I've seen all their hype that the AudioPCI doesn't use "expensive Wavetable ROM" and it makes me a bit concerned: does it store the patch set in your system RAM? If so, that would be most unfortunate. If not, does it simply use onboard RAM as storage space? I am interested, BTW, in the 8MB patch sets.
